Well, here he is, completed at last. I hope everyone likes the outcome as much as I do. I'll let him sit a few days and then revisit the completed figure. I'm sure I'll find spots that need a bit more touch-up. In the meantime, onward to the Saxons and Decurion.
Hello Jim,
ReplyDeletethese Villanovan Warrior is really great as ever! I love the way you paint the metal parts!
Since some days I have an own blog (http://wolfgang-spqr.blogspot.com) and it would be very nice, if you could visit my blog.
With best regards
Wolfgang
Thank you Wolfgang. I did look at your blog last night and was impressed with what I saw. Keep up the good work and keep me posted on your progress.
ReplyDeleteHello Jim,
ReplyDeletethank you very much for your kind words.
In your blog you wrote that you use gold and silver printer inks for the metallic parts.
What are these inks exactly? Are these inks in Cartridges from Computer Printers? And from where can I get these inks?
With best regards
Wolfgang
Hi Wolfgang,
ReplyDeleteI should probably do a post about working with the inks. They are metallic inks that are finely ground pigments in paste form. Phil Kessling turned me on to them years ago and I bought them back when he was selling little film cannisters full. The product can be found from companies that supply printers as the inks are used on presses and come in large tins. If you find a source you will have a lifetime supply plus enough to sell to everyone you know. I have two shades of gold and one bright silver. I believe copper is also available but I don't have any. I don't know who carries them anymore. Stay tuned for a "how-to" post from me on their use.

Here in Stuttgart the company BASF produce colour for print presses and I hope
I can become some of these stuff.
In one of your older post I read you are looking for the old EMI figures
Cesar and Cleopatra. I have these figures and I would like to make these as
a gift to you. I have so many unpainted figures and I am an old man who have not
the time anymore to paint all these figure in the rest of life.
So please mail me your address and I will send it to you.(w.fischl@t-online.de)
I would be a great joy for me to know them in the best hands!
Best wishes
Wolfgang
